Status app is currently in beta stage
The Status app is currently in its beta stage. This means the application is still undergoing active development, and certain features described in this document may function differently or be unavailable within the app.

You can remove Status desktop from your computer to free up space or start fresh with a new install if you encounter technical issues.

Uninstalling Status does not affect your wallet balances or assets. Your crypto funds remain secure as long as you have your recovery phrase.

caution
Before you uninstall Status, make sure you have a backup of your recovery phrase. If you uninstall Status without it, you lose access to your crypto funds, Status profile and the communities you own forever.

If you're a community owner and plan to reinstall status, follow these steps to ensure you can still get into your community:

  1. Backup your recovery phrase
  2. Mint the Owner token
  3. Uninstall Status desktop
  4. Do not delete the Status data folder
  5. Reinstall Status desktop
  6. Restore your profile using the recovery phrase

After you recover your Status profile, the Owner token in your Status Wallet grants you Owner-level access to your community. For more information, check out Understand the Owner and TokenMaster tokens.

    When asked to delete the Status data folder, choose

If you plan to reinstall Status with the same profile, keep the Status data folder. Only delete the folder if you are sure you won't use Status again with the same profile. For more information, read What happens with my Status profile.

No. You can always access the crypto funds in your Status Wallet (or any other wallet of your choice) if you have your recovery phrase.

If you delete the Status data folder in your computer, you can still get your profile back by reinstalling Status desktop on the same computer, unless future software updates make your Status data incompatible. For more information, read About uninstalling Status.
