info
The Status mobile app resets automatically when you uninstall it. For Status desktop, you need to remove your data manually.

Status is a decentralized app without a central server. Your Status profile data is stored locally on your device.

After uninstalling Status desktop, your data may remain on your computer. If you install the app again, you may see the profiles you previously use.

To reset the Status desktop app, you need to manually remove your data from your device.

info
The Waku peer-to-peer network temporarily caches your profile information for 30 days. For more information, check out Delete your Status profile.

  • Your Status data is stored in the Status data folder on your device.
  • On Status desktop, you can decide whether to keep or delete this folder upon uninstallation. On Status mobile, the Status data folder is removed automatically.
  • If you run Status on multiple devices, each device has its own Status data folder.
  • Your crypto funds or recovery phrases are not in the Status data folder. Your wallet funds are safe and available if you know your recovery phrase.
  • Deleting the Status data folder removes all information from your existing profile on your device.
caution
If you are unsure, don't delete the Status data folder. Only delete the folder if you are sure you won't use Status again with the same profile.

The Status data folder contains all the data related to your profile.

Your crypto funds and transaction data, such as transaction amounts and recipient information, are stored on the blockchain, not in the Status data folder.
