With Status, you can complete various activities such as managing crypto assets, exploring dApps, messaging your contacts and interacting with people in Status Communities.

info
In Status version 2.0 and higher, the web3 browser has been deprecated in favour of WalletConnect. You can access dApps using WalletConnect in Status.

If you run Status for the first time, you start with creating a profile.

There's no need for any personally identifiable information (like your email or phone number) to create a Status profile. Instead, the Status app generates a public and a private cryptographic keys (a key pair) for authentication and authorization.

Your private key is associated with a recovery phrase. If you lose or damage your device, you can restore access to your Status data and wallet funds using your recovery phrase on a new device. To secure your profile, back up and secure your recovery phrase as soon as you can.

Status Wallet is a multichain and self-custodial crypto wallet. Using Status Wallet, you can buy crypto, see all your crypto assets including tokens, collectibles and ENS names in one place and send your tokens to different blockchain networks without the hassle of bridging.

You can use Status Wallet with a Keycard hardware wallet to add another layer of security to your assets.

In Status, there are a range of options to personalize your experience.

Choose an avatar and colour that best represent you. If you prefer using multiple identities, create additional Status profiles. Beyond that, customize your wallet accounts with emojis, and give your group chats and communities their unique look with images and colours.

If you run a Status community, you can target specific audiences and set up member permissions using tokens.

With the many contacts, group chats, and communities, you can view all types of notifications in the notification centre and customize your notifications to only receive important ones.

Any Status user can see your profile including your profile picture, it's crucial to safeguard your personal details. Consider customizing your profile to reveal less information to those you don't know well.

You can quickly learn your relationship with a Status user by labelling their profile. If someone makes you feel uncomfortable, you can block the user or mark the user as untrusted. To make sure your contact is genuine, you can verify the user's identity or mark the user as identity verified.

Status Wallet is a self-custodial wallet where you have complete control over your cryptocurrencies and other digital assets. This means that you're fully responsible for the security of your assets, including the private key protecting them. Always keep your credentials safe and protect yourself from scams.

At the same time, you can choose to use Status with Keycard to store private keys offline in an air-gapped environment.

info
Status can't restore your recovery phrase or Wallet funds for you. Keep your Status password and recovery phrase in a safe place and never share them with anyone.
