After you create your Status profile, you automatically get a Status Wallet account. Your Status recovery phrase protects this account and all the accounts you create using your profile as the account origin.
If you create or import an account using a different origin (a different master key or private key), you must back up the account separately. This is necessary because the recovery phrase linked to your Status profile only works for accounts created under that profile.
To back up all your Status Wallet accounts, you need to look at how each account was created.
The illustration below shows an example of different account origins in the Status Wallet settings. Depending on your Wallet, you may have one or more of these origins. To open your Wallet settings:
This table shows what to back up for each wallet account displayed in the image, based on their origin.
Account origin | What to back up |
---|---|
1. Status profile | Your Status profile recovery phrase. This is the recovery phrase you wrote down when you set up your profile. |
2. Recovery phrase | The recovery phrase you used to import these accounts. This is different from your Status profile recovery phrase. |
3. Private key | The private key you use to import the account. A private key is a secret code represented by a string of characters. |
4. Master key | The recovery phrase linked to the master key. This is different from your Status profile recovery phrase. |
Accounts stored on your Keycard are marked with the Keycard symbol. These accounts are physically protected by the Keycard and Keycard PIN.
