Status app is currently in beta stage
The Status app is currently in its beta stage. This means the application is still undergoing active development, and certain features described in this document may function differently or be unavailable within the app.
Currently, you can only airdrop tokens using the Status desktop app.
Community owners can airdrop tokens to community and non-community members using the Status app. In airdrops, owners distribute free tokens for different purposes, such as to reward the community, incentivize community participation, promote a new token or decentralize the token ownership.
Tokens include assets (virtual coins), collectibles and ENS names. You can airdrop assets and collectibles in Status. These can be assets you mint or import to the community.
To airdrop tokens, you can choose between the Ethereum mainnet or one of the Layer-2 networks supported by Status. Your network of choice determines the cost and speed of your airdrop campaign. For more information, check out Choose the network for your airdrop campaign.
Only the community owner can run airdrops.
If the asset you want to airdrop exists in multiple networks, you can choose the network to airdrop. Collectibles are unique digital items on a specific blockchain network.
To run a new airdrop campaign, you need to complete a transaction in the blockchain. As with other blockchain transactions, owners must pay a transaction fee (gas fee). To learn more about this fee, check out Understand network fees.
The limit of tokens you can airdrop depends on the number of tokens you own, your wallet account balance to cover the gas fees and the block gas limit for the network where the airdrop takes place.
You can airdrop tokens in more than one network simultaneously. This process requires paying gas fees on each one of the networks.
The blockchain you choose charges the airdrop transaction fees. Status doesn't charge any fee for airdrops.
Complete these three steps to airdrop tokens in Status:
From the navigation sidebar, click your community.
At the top of the channel sidebar, click your community logo and then click . For the variable, click . In the token selection dialogue, choose the or tab, depending on what you want to airdrop.
You can choose the network for the airdrop if the token exists in multiple networks.
Enter the number of tokens to airdrop and click .
You can airdrop different tokens in the same airdrop campaign. After adding your token, click again under the variable to add a new token.
Next to each asset and collectible, you can see the available token supply to airdrop or the ∞ infinite symbol for tokens with infinite supply. For more information about these options, check out Mint tokens for your community.
For the variable, click .
For Ethereum addresses, paste or manually enter the address hexadecimal values separated by comma (,).
For community members, check the box next to the community members you want to airdrop tokens. Alternatively, check the box to select all your community members. Click to confirm your selection. Click again if you wish to include additional recipients.
The airdrop recipients list can include both Ethereum addresses and community members.
The Status app calculates the total network fees after you choose the airdrop recipients.
In the area, verify the gas fee required by the network.
Select the wallet account you want to use for the gas fee. If the airdrop includes tokens in multiple networks, you can see the gas fees required by each network.
Verify the total cost of your transaction and click . The airdrop campaign starts immediately.
The Status app shows the progress of the airdrop process.
